April is Tadpole Birthday Month!

How terrible of me to have not posted about 3 of the tadpoles and their special days this past month!

Cheryl turned 5 on the 10th! She will be headed to kindergarten this fall and can't wait! She can also tell you that she is 'this many'...she holds her one hand up and shows five fingers! She is so much fun.

Eric turned 9 on the 27th! He got a cool nerf machine gun and feels like a real soldier now. Whoa boy...take it easy with that thing. He also got a new bike as he finally outgrew his last one! Or wore it out should I say!

Devin turned 7 on the 30th...today! She is now old enough to play Minor League Softball. This is a new adventure for her. Her first practice is very sooon with games to follow shortly behind!

Happy Birthday to all my sweeties. Sorry to have let the past month go by without recognizing each one of you individually!

Completed Yurt Panel from the High Desert of Nevada

I did it! I finally finished this yurt panel for my friend Linzi, of Scotland.

Here is my contribution to her Quilted Yurt Project.

I quilted my Toadsong meander as the background fill...and used my Quiltazoid to make circles and half circles which I freehand embellished with feathered hearts and swirled feathers.

I added a lime green piped binding.

Isn't the back cool? I almost like it better than the front! But then...it has a solid back which allows the quilting to really stand out!
Linzi...I sure hope you like it!

Another Sneak Peek at Yurt Panel

Here is another small section of my yurt panel.

So far...things are coming together nicely...I think. I sure hope Linzi is going to like it!

Sneak Peek at Yurt Panel!

Hearts Galore! Remember this is only a sneak peek! I also tried something new! I will fill you in on the details when I am all done!

Do you see what I see??

This picture was just taken today...about 5 minutes ago.

You can always tell when baseball/softball/track season is starting here in Ely...this is what the weather looks like!

It's cold too...only 41...with snow all around!  The mountains were clear yesterday!

Isn't this the cutest little froggy thermometer you ever did see?

Devin made it in school and gave it to me! She is such a sweetheart.

Oh...and it works too!

From Very Sick Tadpole...To Strong and Brave...in 11 days

Taken March 28, 2010...just one day before being diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.

Taken April 8, 2010...just 11 days after diagnosis! What a difference some insulin makes to Sven's appearance, energy level and overall well-being.

I can't say thank you enough for everyone who helped him. We have our oldest boy back! Safe and Well and no longer sick!

Finally...Back to Quilting...well Piecing anyways!

Hi all...things have settled down a bit at the pond and I am back to quilting. Well...at least piecing.

This is a panel I pieced for my friend Linzi of Scotland. She asked for help from what she called 'stunt piecers' for an International Yurt Project. An idea of hers that is about to become a reality!

She mailed me the fabric...and I chose a pattern and got this top finished.

Now comes the fun part...the quilting. I am drawing out a feathered circle heart and will hopefully start quilting in a couple of days. I am very excited.

My quilting is going International!

Linzi loves heavy dense quilting...I hope I can make her proud. ;0)
