Breast Cancer Awareness Month!

My boys want to remind everyone how important it is to get regular checks for Breast Cancer! Early detection is best!

Mamas and sisters are important...at every age!

I lost a dear quilting friend to this disease a couple of years ago...let's not let this disease win without a fight!

In Remembrance...

Even at last night's races...the flag was flying high in remembrance of those who lost their lives 9 years ago....and for those who fight to protect us every day!

Fourth Verse of Star Spangled Banner

The Star Spangled Banner

Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
Oh, say, does that Star-Spangled Banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen, thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines in the stream;
'Tis the Star-Spangled Banner, Oh long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has washed out their foul footstep's pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Oh, thus be it ever when free men shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation!
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heaven rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto, "In God is our trust"
And the Star-spangled Banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Timothy School for Autism Fundraiser

My friend Carol of Patchwork In The Desert made a quilt top for the Timothy School in Berwyn PA for their annual fundraiser and asked me to quilt it and finish the binding.
I quilted the school's logo into the center and then did an overall peacock meander for the remainder of the quilting. I added orange piping to the binding and this top was transformed into a quilt!
I used Metro embroidery thread in pale blue for top and bobbin and used Hobbs 80/20 batting. I am pleased with the results...and obviously so were the bidders...this quilt raised $250 in a silent auction for the school.

Carol...thanks for letting me be a part of this great cause.

Irlen Syndrome and Dr Suess!

The Tadpoles and I went to a Magic Show and Dr Suess Event tonight at the High School that was sponsored by the local Lion's Club in order to raise awareness of Irlen Syndrome. Not sure what Irlen Syndrome is???...learn about it here Irlen Institute, Colored Lenses, Colored Overlays, Diagnosticians, Screeners.

Tomorrow, March 2nd, is the late Theodor Geisel's Birthday and is marked as Read Across America Day.

Reading is not only important...it is FUN!

I quilted this quilt today for the local quilt shop (LQS)...and the money earned was donated to the Ely Lion's Club so that colored Irlen eyeglasses can be purchased for our local families in need. I love to quilt and the fact that I can put my quilting to good use. It feels good to help others don't ya think?!?!
