Yurt at the Loch Lomond Quilt Show!

It all started as a vision of Linzi Upton of Scotland.

Here she is!

And the vision...A Quilted Yurt!
She enlisted the help of stunt piecers and quilters such as myself...and her dream became reality!

Not to mention numerous endless nights I am certain to make it all come together!

Linzi...I thank you for allowing me to be a small wonderful part of this very special project of yours!

I can now say..."I HAVE GONE INTERNATIONAL WITH MY QUILTING!"

Yay! That is very exciting for me.

"Nevada Kaleidoscope" Anecdote/Idea/Inspiration

Linzi asked me to write an exerpt for the yurt panel I stunt pieced and quilted. I thought I would share it here for you to read.

The colors of the earth and sky are amazing here in the high desert of Nevada. Snow falls from late fall into the late spring/early summer season and brings the desert to life. Water runoff from the melting snow fills the dry beds and beetles, frogs and lizards just come to life, each with their own vibrant colors. The cactus and wildflowers are beautiful when in bloom. Every shade of green and brown along with bright fuchsia, orange, yellow and red paint the desert. The rocks themselves even have fantastic color to them. Peacock copper, wonder stone, quartz, and limestone add to the beauty of the outdoors. I have named my panel ‘Nevada Kaleidoscope’ as it is as rich in color as the desert itself. The Drunkard’s Path block and layout gave me the look I wanted for the colors to really stand out..yet blend together as they do in this desert. I have a real love for the high desert so the quilted hearts is an expression of that love. “   - Kristina

Completed Yurt Panel from the High Desert of Nevada

I did it! I finally finished this yurt panel for my friend Linzi, of Scotland.

Here is my contribution to her Quilted Yurt Project.

I quilted my Toadsong meander as the background fill...and used my Quiltazoid to make circles and half circles which I freehand embellished with feathered hearts and swirled feathers.

I added a lime green piped binding.

Isn't the back cool? I almost like it better than the front! But then...it has a solid back which allows the quilting to really stand out!
Linzi...I sure hope you like it!

Another Sneak Peek at Yurt Panel

Here is another small section of my yurt panel.

So far...things are coming together nicely...I think. I sure hope Linzi is going to like it!

Finally...Back to Quilting...well Piecing anyways!

Hi all...things have settled down a bit at the pond and I am back to quilting. Well...at least piecing.

This is a panel I pieced for my friend Linzi of Scotland. She asked for help from what she called 'stunt piecers' for an International Yurt Project. An idea of hers that is about to become a reality!

She mailed me the fabric...and I chose a pattern and got this top finished.

Now comes the fun part...the quilting. I am drawing out a feathered circle heart and will hopefully start quilting in a couple of days. I am very excited.

My quilting is going International!

Linzi loves heavy dense quilting...I hope I can make her proud. ;0)
