Orca Bay Part 2...Kristina's progress

Here are my brown 3-1/2" string blocks...all 72 of them.

I did these a bit different than Bonnie described in her directions. I started with an 8-1/2" x 11" piece of junkmail. Don't we all get junk in the mail? I then started piecing my strings...most of which were cut down to 3/4" to 1-1/4" for more variety. When I was done  covering 12 sheets of paper...I removed the paper, then trimmed them to 7" x 10-1/2"..which after being cut down even further, yielded 6 mini string blocks the size that we needed for this part of the mystery.

  2. Looking good. It is fun to have a quilt buddy for a quilt like this. I think if we have more of these blocks to do I will try the bigger size too and cut them down.

  3. Just love your choice of colors, the browns are wonderful. And aren't you smart to make them larger and cut smaller, I bet they went together fast.

  4. Wow, you are a thinker! Great going what other colours are you using? I am replacing black with brown, red with orange, but kept the blue, just curious to see all the differences and from all over the world. Hi from me in New Zealand!

  7. I love the browns and it looks like a great method for nonstring maker lovers. Like me, I love strings, but haven't gotten to love the process yet. I like your method.
